Studio Policy

Be sure to become familiar with this information, as you will be agreeing to the terms and conditions listed below when you register. You will also be agreeing to the terms and conditions outlined in the registration waiver on the registration form.

Security

All individuals entering the studio should be aware that security cameras are in use throughout the facility. These cameras livestream and record audio and video for security purposes only. Recordings are not available to the public and will only be accessed by the studio owner, law enforcement, or legal representatives in the event of an incident occurring on studio property.

Registration

All students, new and returning, are required to complete registration through the Family Portal located on the studio website in order to participate in any programs. A paper registration form may be used if necessary, and studio staff will manually enter the information. Registration forms and the required non-refundable registration fee must be submitted as soon as possible.

 

Late Pick-Up

Students must be picked up immediately following the conclusion of their scheduled class. A late fee of $20 for every 10 minutes will be charged if a student remains at the studio after class dismissal.

 

Dress Code

Students must be in proper dress code to participate in class. For safety reasons, students who are not in dress code will not be permitted to participate.

Dancewear may be purchased through XDS periodically throughout the season (orders placed during the last week of September, October, November, February, and April). Custom dance attire may also be available.

All Classes

  • Hair must be pulled up and secure (bun required for ballet)

  • No chewing gum

  • No baggy clothing, sweatpants, jeans, pajamas, or hoodies

  • No dangling jewelry

  • No dancing in socks

 

Ballet

  • Neutral or colored leotard

  • Tights

  • Optional fitted knit pants, leggings, shorts, ballet skirts, or leg warmers

  • No yoga pants or flare leggings

 

Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Company, Musical Theater & Liturgical, 

  • Ballet attire is acceptable

  • Athletic slim-fit top

  • Leggings, shorts, or stretch dance pants (no flare leggings)

 

Acrobatics & Tumble Tots

  • Fitted attire required for safety and spotting

  • Leotard or unitard required

  • Leggings, shorts, or stretch dance pants (no flare leggings)

 

Tiny Tots and Mommy/Parent & Me

  • Refer to ballet or jazz shoe guidelines

 

Shoes

  • Ballet: Pink split-sole canvas or leather ballet slippers (elastic sewn, drawstrings tucked)

  • Jazz / Hip Hop / Musical Theater / Lyrical / Contemporary: Apollo Alpha Dance Shocks

  • Street Hip Hop: Weissman Blaze Hip Hop sneaker

  • Tap: Black slip-on or lace-up tap shoes (no heels; split sole preferred)

  • Acrobatics & Tumble Tots: No shoes or socks

  • XDS Company: Shoe requirements vary by routine (instructor will advise)

  • Pointe: Approved brands include Grishko, Bloch, Russian Pointe, Capezio, and Suffolk. Pointe shoes must be purchased through an approved retailer.

 

XDS Competitive Company Team

The XDS Competitive Company Team is a competitive, audition-based program participating in regional competitions and additional performance opportunities throughout the fall and spring season. All dancers, including returning Company members, must audition and meet the minimum point requirement to be placed on a team.

All Company dancers are required to enroll in one ballet/technique class for the full duration of the fall/spring session. Competition and event participation involves additional fees beyond monthly tuition.

As this is a team-based program, dancers and families are expected to demonstrate respect, professionalism, and positive conduct. Failure to meet these expectations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension from the team.

Fundraising opportunities are optional.

 

Costumes

All students are required to purchase the costume selected for their class. Costumes are $100 per class, per dancer (fall/spring program only). Costume fees are non-refundable once ordered. Costumes may require alterations or size exchanges. A $15 supplier restocking fee applies to exchanged costumes. All alteration costs are the responsibility of the family.

 

 

Family Portal

The Family Portal allows families to register for classes, manage schedules, view payment history, and make online payments via PayPal, credit card, bank account, or automatic withdrawal. The studio will also use the portal to communicate important information, including newsletters, videos, photos, and text alerts. All students must be registered through the portal at the time of enrollment.

 

 

Dance Studios & Lobby

Only enrolled dancers are permitted in the studios unless approved by an instructor. Children are not permitted in unused studios. Street shoes are not allowed on dance floors. Only closed containers are permitted in studios. No texting or phone calls during class.Parents are responsible for supervising children in the lobby. Excessive noise cannot be tolerated, as studio business is conducted in this area. Drinks must have lids, and snacks must remain in the lobby only. Please bring nutritious, non-messy snacks.

Payment Information

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month and considered late after the 15th. A $15 late fee will be added on the 16th. Students may not attend class if tuition is unpaid.

Fall/spring tuition is billed one month in advance. Summer program tuition and registration fees are due in full before the first day of class.

There are no refunds or credits for missed classes, absences, or withdrawals. All fees must be current to receive costumes and participate in performances. Returned checks incur a $25 fee. No prorating applies.

Fall/Spring

  • Registration: $30 per student

  • 30-minute class: $55/month

  • 45-minute class: $60/month

  • XDS Company: $70/month (invitation only; no multi-class discount)

  • Pointe: $40/month (invitation only)

  • Private Lessons/Solos: Pricing varies by instructor

 

Multi-Class Discounts

2 classes: $10 off
3 classes: $20 off
4 classes: $30 off
5 classes: $40 off
6 classes: $50 off
7 classes: $60 off
8 classes: $70 off
9 classes: $80 off
10 classes: $90 off

 

Tardiness & Absences

Timely arrival is essential for safety and proper warm-up. Students arriving late may not be permitted to participate. Frequent absences may result in level reassignment. Tuition is not prorated due to absences.

 

Closings

In the event of inclement weather, families will be notified via email. School district closures may indicate studio closure, but please confirm via studio communication.

Discipline

Students are expected to demonstrate age-appropriate behavior. Disruptive students may be asked to observe class or leave if behavior persists.

Annual Fall/Spring Recital

All fall/spring students participate in the annual recital held in May. Flash photography and personal recording are not permitted. Professional vendors and videography services will be available for purchase.

Tickets will be sold for a limited time and increase in price at the door. Accounts must be paid in full and costumes performance-ready to participate.

Picture Day

Professional photos will be offered. Participation in group photos is encouraged. Students must wear tan tights and appropriate shoes.

Awards Night

Awards Night is a family-friendly celebration honoring dancers’ hard work. Each dancer receives their annual pin, with select dancers earning additional awards.
